News of the Sales process, February 2012
The process goes on according to the estimated scedule. Submitted applications of interest have been evaluated according to the demands of the Administration (Trafikverket).
Next step is to intensify the dialogue with some prospective buyers. The board of Trafikverket will make its decision of signing a contract of sale of the maintenance yards in spring 2012.
Sales decision in accordance with state policy
The Swedish state’s ownership policy is that if there is a functioning private market, state authorities shall not offer similar services. The Swedish Transport Administration is now offering both of its well-established maintenance yards for sale.
The fact that the Swedish Transport Administration is not able to prioritize investments in the shipyard business over other investments in roads and railways in the foreseeable future has played a significant role in the decision since it means that the maintenance yards in their present state will not be able to continue to offer competitive services. It is also believed that a new owner will be better equipped to provide jobs and interesting assignments in the future.
The Swedish Transport Administration’s Färjerederi must secure high quality and good value maintenance of the state’s road ferries even in the future.
Information on the sales process will be published on this website.
The time to advance applications has come to an end. Contact person is the Swedish Transport Administration’s Shipping Board Manager Anders Werner on 070-676 15 70 or anders.werner@trafikverket.se
