Before and during a journey you can access various types of road and traffic information. This can be via the internet, telephone or PDA. You can also receive traffic information via radio or teletext.
Via the internet
You can access the traffic information service "Läget på vägarna" by using a computer or by using mobile services. The service helps you keep track of what is happening on the roads, such as road conditions, road works, and roads with automatic speed surveillance.
The web and WAP service" trafiken.nu" gives a real-time picture of the traffic situation in the Stockholm and Göteborg regions and in Skåne. Public transport timetables, traffic cameras and information about parking are just a few of the services available.
The "trafiken.nu" web site is run and developed jointly by the Swedish Transport Administration's regional offices in Stockholm, Göteborg and Malmö in collaboration with the municipalities, public transport companies.
Phone, read teletext, and listen to the radio
By calling 0900-202 10 00, you can receive information via an automatic voice response service about road conditions (in winter) and road works on national roads in Sweden.
Information on road conditions can be found on Swedish Television's (SVT) teletext pages 430–439 and TV4's teletext pages 480–489 during the winter months.
During summer months, the information concerns road works on main national roads. Traffic information is of course also available via the radio.
Improved knowledge and better forecasts
The quality of information provided before and during a journey will continue to improve, above all in up-to-date information on road conditions. Better forecasts of what is happening on the roads will also soon be available.
More services and better coordination
There will be an increase in the number of tailored services. One example could be help to find the fastest route to a pre-booked parking space, where payment is automated. Coordination between different modes of transport will also improve. It will become easier and more efficient to travel or transport goods using different modes of transport.
