We investigate marine environments in Gothenburg

During the summer and autumn we have been conducting biological investigations in the water at various places in Gothenburg.

The purpose of which being to minimise the impact that construction of the West Link could have on the marine environments within the city.

Construction of the West Link shall have as little impact as possible on the marine environments in and around Gothenburg. In order for us to be able to take measures to ensure this, we need to make inventories of animal and plant life in the marine environments that could be affected.

Earlier this summer we studied the presence of kingfishers, large mussels, underwater vegetation and fish fry and lamprey. Now we are making an inventory of fish in slow-flowing or standing waters.

In order to be able to measure the incidence of as many species of fish as possible, we are conducting the investigations using a number of different methods. We will be conducting our studies in Säveån, Gullbergsån, Mölndalsån, Rosenlundskanalen, Stora hamnkanalen and Näckrosdammen.
