Commercial motor carrier permit
To drive professionally, you need a motor carrier permit. We offer tests for the commercial motor carrier permit for buses and goods, and also for taxis.
The Swedish Transport Agency tests whether you are suitable to hold a commercial motor carrier permit. You will not be allowed to take the tests if you have a suspension period registered with the Swedish Transport Agency.
Commercial motor carrier permit for buses and goods
The theory test consists of two modules. You choose the order in which you complete the modules.
Modules 1 and 2
- The first module consists of multiple choice questions. You can score a total of 40 points here. The test takes 120 minutes.
- The second module consists of case studies with 20 tasks. You can score a total of 40 points here. The test takes 120 minutes.

What you need in order to pass
- You will pass a module if you accrue at least 24 points.
- You will pass the whole test if you pass both modules within one month.
You will find out whether you have passed or failed immediately after the test. The results will be sent to your email address, and you will see how many correct answers you have in the various subject areas. You can also view the results in the booking service.
Commercial motor carrier permit for taxis
The theory test for the motor carrier permit for taxis comprises four modules, 1 to 4, with knowledge requirements in four different areas. All modules must be passed within six months of passing the first module.
- Module 1: Rules of law (formerly the Law module)
- Module 2: Financial management of an enterprise
- Module 3: Road safety and technical standards
- Module 4: Case studies
Modules 1 to 3
Modules 1 to 3 may be completed in any order. Each test consists of 23 questions, but you can score a maximum of 20 points per test. This is because three of the questions are sample questions and do not count towards the results. To pass the test, you must correctly answer at least 12 questions in each module. The test takes 45 minutes per module.
Module 4
Module 4 consists of 20 questions, but you can score a maximum of 15 points. This is because five of the questions are sample questions and do not count towards the results. To pass the test, you must answer at least 9 questions correctly. The test for module 4 takes 120 minutes.

You have to submit your application for a commercial motor carrier permit to the Swedish Transport Agency when you have passed all the modules. When your application has been received, they will check that you meet a number of requirements.
