Renewing your driving licence

When it is time to renew your driving licence, you can have your photo taken at some of our driving test centres. You do not need to make an appointment for a photo to be taken.

Your driving licence is valid for a limited time and must be renewed before it expires. When it is time to renew your driving licence, the Swedish Transport Agency will send an application form for a new driving licence to your registered address. You must have received this form before you can have your photo taken at our centre.

How the photo is taken

You will have your photo taken at a photo booth at one of our centres. Your photo will then be sent digitally together with your signature to the Swedish Transport Agency, which will produce your driving licence.

Paying for your photo

Photos for driving licence renewal cost 125 SEK. You can pay by Swish directly at the reception of the driving test centre. You can also pay in the booking service by card (VISA or MasterCard), Swish or invoice. In that case, you pay here after your photo has been taken.

For your driving license, you will need to have your photograph taken here at Trafikverket Förarprov. You can also have your photo taken here when you renew your driving license.

Bring valid ID with you

You will need to show valid ID when you have a photo taken so that you can renew your driving licence. This ID must be intact and it must not have expired.

If you do not have valid ID

If you do not have valid and acceptable ID, you can apply to us for an exemption from this requirement. You will then apply for someone else to certify your identity.

Photos when exchanging driving licences from other EEA countries

You can exchange your EEA driving licence for a Swedish one if your licence is valid and you are permanently resident in Sweden. In that case, you need to have a photo taken at one of our driving test centres.
