Renewing your driving licence
For drivers holding a Swedish driving licence. Find all the information you need on taking your photo at our test centres, licence renewal, drop-in opening hours, and rules if you suffer an injury or illness.
When it is time to renew your driving licence, the Swedish Transport Agency will send an application form for a new driving licence to your registered address. A driving licence is valid for a limited time and must be renewed before it expires.
How do I renew my driving licence?
You will have your photo taken at a photo booth at one of our centres. Your photo will then be sent directly together with your signature to the Swedish Transport Agency, which will produce your driving licence.
How much is the photography for renewing my driving licence?
- Photos for driving licence renewal cost 200 SEK. You can pay either:
by Swish directly at the reception of the driving test centre or - by logging in to the booking service

For your driving license, you will need to have your photograph taken here at Trafikverket Förarprov. You can also have your photo taken here when you renew your driving license.
Bring valid ID with you when you have a photo taken
You will need to show valid ID when you have a photo taken so that you can renew your driving licence. This ID must be intact and it must not have expired.

If you do not have valid ID
If you do not have valid and acceptable ID, you can apply to us for an exemption from this requirement. You will then apply for someone else to certify your identity.
Photos when exchanging driving licences from other EEA countries
In order to exchange your EEA state driving licence for a Swedish one, you must
- have a valid driving licence
- be a permanent resident of Sweden.
Apply on the Swedish Transport Agency's website. If the Swedish Transport Agency approves your application, visit one of our driving test centre to have your photo taken and provide your signature. Please bring an approved and valid identification document.

The photo and the signature you provide at the photo station are sent digitally to the Swedish Transport Agency to be used when producing your driving licence.
No, we do not take photos for driver’s certificates. You can have your photo taken in a photo booth or by a photographer. More information is available from the Swedish Transport Agency.
Mopeds, snowmobiles, ATVs and tractors – Swedish Transport Agency
No. An application form will be sent automatically to your home address when your driving licence needs to be renewed. This form is sent by the Swedish Transport Agency.
You can then choose to have your photo taken at one of our driving test centres or to send your photo directly to the Swedish Transport Agency together with the application form.
